Blush

The wild rose buds are pried apart
by the early June heat.
Their opening is a gasp for air and water
as they separate their soft petals,
reluctantly releasing their pink blush
and their heavenly fragrance.

I'm delighted by the hint of divine
that resides in their beauty and I blush too,
when I think of how He loves me.
He loves me passionately and wildly;
me...a simple nobody.

And he sends me an abundance of roses in June
to prove to me that being a nobody
is all He wants from me.
He is pleased that I am madly in love
with my Maker; and He smiles at
the nobody who blushes at His sweet and
fragrant pink roses in June.

  1. We happened upon some wild roses on a walk yesterday. Your poem reminded me of what a treat it was to see them ... And If we're not looking, we don't always see what the Lord has for us at any given moment.

  4. There’s a Victorian way about you Anne. Do you write with a feather? :-) I’ll never forget the day I offered a prayer through the intercession of Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, and my daughter came home that day with roses for me.
