that the mother of my Lord should come to me?” Luke 1:43
The
Feast of the Visitation (May 31st) is a perfect example of
friendship. Here two great and holy women have incredible and amazing news to
share. Mary and Elizabeth rush to be together and their human love for one
another escapes from their hearts and becomes a united prayer of love and
gratitude to God. They recognize that the holiness, the goodness, and the joy
of their friendship comes from God alone and together they celebrate the
miracle of the beginnings of new life welling up within their bodies. Life seems inexplicably beautiful.
